Please check out eff.org for information on our 48-hour window (closing soon!) to comment on the Innovation Act on which the House of Representatives will be voting next week. It is meant to stop the big patent trolls from intimidating small companies and individuals with lawsuits, etc. Here is a link to the call campaign: https://trollingeffects.org/call
Also, see The Consent Chronicle’s petition to reform the Electronic Communications Privacy Act by requiring the IRS, FBI, DEA, and local law-enforcement agencies to obtain warrants for E-mail spying. The petition is on White House site, so you need an account to sign: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/reform-ecpa-tell-government-get-warrant/nq258dxk There is a goal of 100,000 signatures: they are just past halfway, with 57,000+. Please help!

Thanks so much! We really do not collectively have anything to which to donate; we came together in July 2008 as the largest group on “myBO” (23,000, if I remember correctly), then-Senator Barack Obama’s campaign site, outraged over his FISA vote. We moved from there to a Wetpaint wiki, then to this blog. We were actually pretty ground-breaking at the time—now we are behind the curve, I guess—we never got the “push” thing going, people still have to find us.
Anyway, over time, our numbers dwindled, we moved in many different directions—one of our core founding members, the one who tasked me with checking in here to approve comments, has since died, and when I heard the news it was like losing a relative; the core group bonded so, and Mark had such a wealth of knowledge and experience, was so warm.
We were here for the renewal of the so-called PATRIOT Act (even watched the vote together via the ’Net), come back sporadically for most of the big events. I am proud of what we accomplished, wish I had time to keep this more up to date, but will certainly keep a candle burning and very much appreciate your kind words.
