Jared Allen reports in The Hill:
More than a dozen of the GOP’s most conservative members on Thursday introduced a bill to reauthorize controversial Patriot Act provisions set to expire later this year.
The group of House Republicans – who include Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.), Conference Chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and Judiciary Ranking Member Lamar Smith (R-Texas) – want to extend for an additional 10 years the ability of national security agencies to conduct “roving” wiretaps, have access to library patron information and greatly expand the reach of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
Those provisions of the Patriot Act were set to expire this year.
Earlier in the year than we had expected …

These men are operating under an outdated and failed paradigm.
This legislation must be prevented in order for our freedoms to be re-established under the true “Rule of Law” and hopefully a sane Administration, which I do believe we now have in office.
There was an article recently about Chuck Norris wanting Texas to seceed from the union so that he could run for President of Texas, I suppose in protest of how “liberal” he believes the rest of the country has become (he obviously doesn’t spend much time in Austin!). On of the comments to this article was priceless – it read:
“Someone needs to Patriot Act this guy!”
Wow! “Patriot Act” used as a verb to do someone in based on their unpatriotic viewpoint- that says it all. What a distinctly cynical and at the same time distinctly American concept!
We need to Patriot Act the Patriot Act!!!
Oops – make that “secede”!
“We need to Patriot Act the Patriot Act!!!”
Agreed.
herzlichen glueckwunsch Thank
